Welcome

One of the most effective ways to allow the Word of God to affect your life is to study it inductively. That is what this blog is all about. Typically one verse per day will be mined for insight and then followed up with how I plan to implement that insight practically. My prayer is that in some way you find this useful in your journey and that it may impact you positively. -G

Ephesians 1:8

Ephesians 1:8
that he lavished on us. With all wisdom and understanding,

What is it that He lavished on us? It is the forgiveness of our sins through the abundant grace of God. as we see here in the preceding verse:

Ephesians 1:7
In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace

Grace is the unmerited favor of God. As sinners our pardon from a life of sin is completely unmerited but through God’s grace we are not only just sufficiently pardoned like a criminal who gets out of an indictment because of a technicality, we are fully exonerated and brought into the family of the judge himself and made one of his sons with all of the rights of inheritance and sonship. That is lavish. When we walk in the knowledge of this great grace it rightfully causes us to reflexively repent of our sins and humbly bend our knee in gratitude.

I want to be mindful of the great grace I have been given therefore I will meditate on the following verse:

Titus 2:11-12 For the grace of God has appeared that offers salvation to all people. 12 It teaches us to say “No” to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age,
