Welcome

One of the most effective ways to allow the Word of God to affect your life is to study it inductively. That is what this blog is all about. Typically one verse per day will be mined for insight and then followed up with how I plan to implement that insight practically. My prayer is that in some way you find this useful in your journey and that it may impact you positively. -G

Ephesians 2:17

Ephesians 2:17
He came and preached peace to you who were far away and peace to those who were near.
The peace Paul is referencing here is peace between God and man. There exists a gulf between the two and Jesus is the bridge that closes that gap for us. The separation between the two is the irreconcilable difference between holiness and sin. Only in Christ is that difference accounted for and satisfied. Apart from Christ there is no peace between God and His creation. Christ’s death on the cross quenched once and for all the enmity between God and man. Therefore Christ is the Prince of Peace.

1Timothy 2:5 For there is one God and one mediator between God and mankind, the man Christ Jesus,

Webster’s 1828 dictionary defines the word mediator this way:

MEDIA'TOR, noun One that interposes between parties at variance for the purpose of reconciling them.

1. By way of eminence, Christ is the mediator, the divine intercessor through whom sinners may be reconciled to an offended God.

Christ is a mediator by nature, as partaking of both natures divine and human; and mediator by office, as transacting matters between God and man.

application
Today I will be careful to appreciate the precious gift of reconciliation Christ has paid for me.
